I faced a lot of difficulties during growing ash gourd vegetable in a container
Actually, ash gourd is a rapidly growing plant. So it needs enough fertilizer & water, hence many of you might have been afraid to try to grow ash gourd in containers. I used to think the same thing too. But this year I have tried to grow ash gourd vegetable (petha kaddu in Hindi) in containers. I have used very old compost to grow this. So I did not need any other fertilizer. But I picked a large plastic bag instead of normal containers. So I was able to add enough compost to that bag.
But watering was an issue because it needs enough water throughout the day otherwise soil will be dried up within 3-4 hours. So I had to use coco pit with compost or install a deep irrigation system. But instead of all those decent ideas I take a water bottle with a small hole on its cap and fill that bottle with water and placed it near the root of ash gourd plants.
