Bengali style Doi fuchka; Mouthwatering dahi puri chaat

August 22, 2021 By admin Leave a Comment

Hey friends, how are you? All’s well? Feeling hungry? Well, I am gonna sharing doi fuchka with you. I had awesome doi fuchka last evening and it was really awesome. I could not share the real food over the internet. So you have to put little effort and make it at your own place. Believe me, it is really easy. It is quite similar to dahi puri chaat. Well, I don’t know why I am saying similar food, it is actually the same food. Yes, doi fuchka and dahi puri chaat are the same food. It is also known as dahi batata puri in some regions too. So all set to make doi fuchka in your kitchen? Let’s go.

You can make puri for doi fuchka at home. But fortunately ready to eat fuchka / puri is available at the local market. So I do not need to take the pain of making fuchka in hurry. I often buy one or two packets of fuchka from the local shop and store it for the week. So that whenever I want to eat fuchka, I can eat that. It is not costly. I got a packet for Rs20 and each packet has 20 fuchka or crispy puri. So definitely it is not costly.

If it is not available at your local market then you can make those puchka or puri in your kitchen too. It takes time but it is easy. I have shared the recipe for those puris in my old post. You can go and check it. But I noticed that it is really difficult to make crispy puri every time and every season. Secondly, you can not store homemade fuchka for the long period. You need to have the right container and good luck for keeping crispy phuchka for a few days, HaHa!

I used to eat doi fuchka during festivals or fairs or need to travel a distance to reach the shop where it is available. Actually doi fuchka or dahi batata puri is not available at every marketplace. So I hardly could eat doi fuchka when I was a kid. As you know foodies are lazy because they have a tummy of noticeable size, Haha. So still I can not eat those stuff because I need to travel more than two Kilometer for dahi puri chaat. I am not so fat. But still, I feel lazy to travel such a distance just for food that I can make at home.

This food is really mouthwatering. It looks very colorful. Okay, I think you are waiting to make this awesome food as soon as possible.

Dahi puri chaat recipe

Let me make it clear that if you have ready to eat crispy puri in your kitchen inventory then it is a simple dish. You just need to make ready a few stuffing items, chutney and items for garnishing. Those items are

Spicy mashed potatoes: Take 3 medium size boiled potatoes and a handful of boiled Kabuli chole. Mash it properly with your hand or manual masher. Now add lemon juice, chopped green chillies, chopped fresh coriander leaves, roasted cumin powder, roasted coriander powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala, salt according to the taste. Mix all and make a mouthwatering stuffing for doi fuchka.

Dahi/yogurt: Take 1/2 cup dahi/curd/yogurt and 1 tablespoon water, 1/2 tablespoon sugar powder, a pinch of salt and mix all

Hot, sour & sweet chutney: Take a handful pudina / mint leaves, handful of fresh coriander powder, 1 tablespoon tamarind pulp, 3 tablespoon water, 2 teaspoons red chilli powder, 2 teaspoons chaat masala, 4 dates (khejur) without seeds and salt in a mixie and blend to make a smooth puree. It is should not be too thick or too thin. Instead of this chutney, you can use traditional green chatni and red chatni separately.

Chopped onion: Cut 2 medium size onions into fine pieces

Sev / farsan: Take a small bowl of sev for garnishing dahi puri chaat.

Spices: Take a small amount of chaat masala and red chilli powder separate to spread separately over dahi batata puri
