Favorite & most delicious Bengali veg menu for lunch party

February 27, 2021 By admin Leave a Comment

Most Bengali people are non-vegetarians. There are very few Bengalis who are pure vegetarian. But still there are some occasions when we all prefer vegetarians meal. The reason for having a veg meal can be various. It can be a religious purpose or its totally personal interest to have a Bengali veg menu for a lunch party. There are some people who will raise their eyebrows because they think there is not delicious Bengali veg menu for lunch party. But here is such a food menu for lunch party which is my favorite & mouthwatering too.

Imagining a Bengali lunch without fish or meat is almost an impossible thing to do. But there are a lot of options in veg food in Bengali cuisine. So in case you are searching for a Bengali veg menu then you are probably on the right page because here will share such a menu which is my favorite.

If you are not a Bengali then also I can bet that you can still enjoy this lunch.

Vegetable chop

The first thing that comes to my mind in starters is vegetable chop. Almost everybody can enjoy it with kasundi (mustard sauce), tomato chutney and of course fresh salad.

Fresh salad

Vegetable chop is always served with fresh vegetable salad which is normally prepared with cucumber, onion, tomato, carrot etc. Simple cucumber salad will also work for this purpose.

Radha ballabhi

It is a very special Bengal style stuffed poori. It is a very traditional dish what is often prepared to serve in Bengali meal. Radha ballabhi is normally served with chholar dal, dum aloo, Kabuli chole masala, paneer curry etc. Did you ever try it at home?

Aloor dum

It is most popular veg dish to have with radha ballabhi, poori, loochi, paratha etc. There are multiple options in aloor dum. You can have a spicy one or without garlic & onion. The taste of both types of aloor dum are different.

Basanti pulao

Basanti pulao is a traditional rice-based dishes. It is popular across this region. The color of this rice is golden or basanti. That is why it is named as basanti pulao. It is sweet in taste.

Paneer rezala curry

Mostly people prefer to have basanti pulao with something which is hot & spicy because basanti pulao itself sweet in taste. You can hardly find a local restaurant where this type of dish is served. There will only a few restaurants where paneer rezala curry is served to their guests. So if you want to try it then you have to make it in your own kitchen.

Beguni

From kid to senior citizen and from poor to rich, almost everybody loves this awesome snack or fritter. It is very crispy & tasty. This brinjal fritter will be very enjoyable to have along with basanti pulao. So I won’t forget to include this in this most delicious Bengali veg meal for lunch party. Do you?

Plastic chatni

Without chatni, any Bengali meal is incomplete. There are multiple options in Bengali style sweet chatni. Tomatoes, tamarind, fruits etc are used to make different types of chatni. But plastic chatni is my favorite for a lunch party. It is prepared with raw green papaya and sugar.

Payesh

A few years back, nobody could imagine a traditional Bengali meal. It was almost a compulsory sweet dish. But nowadays it is not as popular as earlier. Nowadays payesh is normally prepared for puja bhog or traditional Bengali birthday celebration or baby’s first rice ceremony.

Rasogolla/Ice cream

Everybody loves rasogolla. You can include it in the Bengal veg meal for lunch party. But in case you want to avoid rasogolla then you can replace it with any flavored ice cream instead of rasogolla. You can also include both rasagolla & ice cream.

This was my favorite & most delicious Bengali style veg meal for lunch party. So in case, you are planning for such party then you can pick this menu. If you have any other Bengali style veg meal what you want to choose then share it with us by leaving a comment below.
