One of the simple delicious dishes – Aloo jeera recipe

Aloo jeera is a simple dish but very much delicious. Many people prefer this item just because of flavor of cumin seeds. Cumin’s flavor with soft boiled potato makes this dish wonderful. If you can not cook then also you can try this aloo jeera recipe and make surprise others.

This item is so popular in North India and people like to have this even in restaurant also. Many people like this item for vrat fasting.

You can have this aloo jeera with tawa roti, paratha or peas rice with raita.

Best aloo jeera recipe – Try at home

Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 20 minutes
Serves : 2-4

Ingredients

  • Potato (aloo) – 2 large size (cut into small cubes)
  • Ginger – 1/2 inch (grated)
  • Cumin (jeera) seeds – 4 tsp
  • Red chili powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Sunflower oil – 1 tbsp
  • Green chili – 1 large (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves – for garnish
  • Lemon juice – few drops
  • Salt – 1 tsp

Method

  1. Cut aloo / potato into small cubes and boil in salty water for 10 minutes
  2. heat oil in frying pan and add grated ginger and cumin seeds
  3. Cook for 3 minutes and add chopped green chilies
  4. Now add potato cubes, add salt and cook well
  5. Once potato changed its color to light brown, add red chili powder and turmeric powder
  6. Fry for another 3-4 minutes and add coriander leaves
  7. Switch off flame and spread few drops of lemon juice over aloo jeera
  8. Serve hot

Additional tips

⇒ Do not over boil or under boil potato, boil this in salty water
⇒ You can avoid grated ginger too if you do not like ginger but I like ginger flavor in aloo jeera
