Aloo chokha is favorite dish of many people, specially those who belong to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand. But we find sometime it monotonous in taste as very often we eat this food. In many families, it is served very often not just because of ease of making this dish but also for it’s taste. So we can differ slightly from it’s traditional recipe and add paneer too with potatoes. It will bring different taste and will break monotonousness in taste too.

Ingredients
- Potato / aloo - 3 medium size
- Paneer - 100 gm
- Onion / pyaz - 2 small size
- Tomato / tamatar - 1 medium size
- Roasted cumin / bhuna jeera powder - 2 tsp
- Black pepper powder - 2 tsp
- Red chili / lal mirch powder - 1.5 tsp
- Green chili / hara chili - 2
- Garam masala - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Salt - as needed
- Coriander leaves - 3-4 leaves (chopped)
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Butter - 1 tsp
Instructions
- Take potatoes and pressure cook till 3-4 whistles
- Now Peel skin of potatoes and mash by using masher or hand
- Heat oil in kadai / cooking pot and fry paneer cubes till turns into light brown and take all paneer cubes in a bowl
- Now add chopped onion, tomato, green chilies and fry for 4-5 minutes and add all spices and mix well
- Add mashed potatoes and mix with all other ingredients properly and add 1 tsp butter & coriander leaves and cook for another 5-6 minutes
- Add fried paneer cubes and mix with mashed potatoes
- Now take it in a serving plates and garnish with chopped onion
Steps to follow (Aloo chokha recipe)
- First wash potatoes and cut into 4 pieces (it will help to make boiling process fast) and pressure cook potatoes till 3-4 whistles
- Peel skin of potatoes and mash all potato pieces by using a masher or you can use your hand too
- Heal oil in a kadai and fry paneer cubes for 2-3 minutes, wait till color of paneer turns to light brown. Once you have done with frying paneer then all paneer cubes in a bowl and keep aside for further use
- Now add finely chopped onion, tomato and green chilies in kadai and saute. Do this for another 3 minutes and add all spices (roasted cumin, black pepper, red chili, garam masala, turmeric powder) & salt in that kadai
- Once masala is ready, then add mashed potatoes in that masala and mix masala with mashed potatoes properly and fry for another 5 to 6 minutes and add butter, all fried paneer pieces & coriander leaves and mix with mashed potato
- Spread chopped onions and serve hot with chapati, litti etc
