Suppose outside temperature is around 45-degree centigrade and you are roaming here & there throughout the day. You are tired & thirsty too. Finally, you have got a chance to take rest in a restaurant and you make an order for watermelon mocktail. Nothing can be better than this, right? But you can not have such experience daily and secondly, having watermelon mocktail may be very costly at certain restaurants.
But once you can make it at home then you can enjoy this summer drink any time at your own place whenever you will want. Is it not right?
We all love watermelon because it is very juicy & sweet in taste. So people find it very refreshing fruit during summer days. Nutritionists also said it has so many minerals which are good for our health too. That means it is healthy too. That is why people across the world do a lot of experiments with watermelon to make different refreshing & healthy summer drinks.
In India, watermelon is very popular. Though cultivation point of view, China is the largest producer of watermelon in the world but still India also produce enough watermelon during summer days. Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka & West Bengal these three states are major watermelon producers in India. Last year, I have also tried to grow watermelon plant at home. Plants were growing so aggressively but there were no fruits. It was so disappointing because I thought at-least one fruit per plant would be there but it did not meet my minimum expectation. So this year I did not try watermelon plant again. Rather this year I am expecting enough ripe mangoes on our plant.

Hmmm, okay, now coming to this non-alcoholic summer drink, watermelon mocktail. I find it really refreshing, super delicious & healthy summer drink. Preparation of such watermelon mocktail is very easy but removing seeds from watermelon cubes is a little boring & difficult task. Some people use only watermelon juice to make mocktail but I keep residual to make it little thick & also it helps to maintain all nutrient values in it. So I normally do not strain watermelon puree into a bowl. Added Mint & lemon flavor makes this more delicious. I prefer to add black salt to this mocktail, not only that sometimes I even add chaat masala to this excellent summer drink.
Watermelon mocktail recipe
- 1 small watermelon
- 3 tsp lemon juice
- 10-12 mint leaves
- ½ tsp black salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 glass water
- Remove seeds from watermelon pieces and put those in a blender, add lemon juice, mint leaves, black salt, sugar and blend it to make a smooth puree
- Now you can strain that puree into a large bowl but you can avoid this step
- Then add water and again mix it with watermelon & lemon juice
- Keep that large bowl in the freezer and wait till it becomes semi-frozen
- Now before serving blend it again & serve
