Growing fruits & vegetables at a backyard or rooftop garden are the most beneficial hobby. Spending time with green plants is not just cure your mental fatigue but also at the end of the day when you will harvest fresh pesticide-free fruits & vegetables then that will be beneficial for your health too. So I would say gardening is a wonderful hobby for everybody because the overall health of your family members will be better if you bring fresh fruits & vegetables at your kitchen direct from your garden. It is middle of the February 2020 and here is the overview of my homegrown vegetables & fruits in February 2020. Just have a look.
Strawberry plant
This season for the first time, I am growing strawberry plant. I thought I could not grow this because, in tropical region, it is normally difficult to grow strawberries. Secondly, unexpected rains also damage these plants. That is why I bought one plant.
This month I collected strawberry seeds from its seeds and sowed those in a pot.
Expecting a few seedlings fro the next season.
Fingers Crossed!!!
Brinjal plants
A few months back I planted 6 brinjal plants and now a few of those are producing brinjals/eggplants. I am so happy with the result.
These plants are needed extra care due to insects. So I spray organic pesticide every week. Apart from insecticide, I also wash leaves of these plants with water (add one drop shampoo in 1.5 lt water), so that I can keep those plants free from every kind of insects & dust.

Collecting lettuce seeds for next season
Lettuce seeds are costly, last year I paid Rs 60 for one packet of seeds. So I decided that I would never purchase lettuce seeds rather I will collect seeds from my plants.
That is I kept 3 old lettuce plants for collecting seeds. Those plants belong to my first batch of lettuce plants. Now I am growing second batch which is visible in the above picture.

Colors of my garden
A garden can not be colorless. Is not it true? So the easiest plants what can bring color in your garden is petunia plants. Those plants are easy to grow and produce plenty of flowers at a time. So if you have just 10-12 plants then you can easily develop an area with colorful flowers.
Plenty of tomatoes
Tomato is an important vegetable what you need throughout the year. In Indian cuisines, we add ripe tomatoes to make almost every kind of gravy. so gardener needs to a few tomato plants throughout the year to get a continuous supply of tomatoes.
Tomato based dishes: Drumstick tomato rasam, Tomato raita, Perfect cucumber tomato salad
So these plants are supplying 2-3 ripe tomatoes every day. Every morning I reach to the rooftop garden and collect those fresh & chemical-free tomatoes.
Bottle gourd plant growing in a container
I also have a bottle gourd plant grown in a container. This plant produced one fruit that too almost 45 days ago after that it went into a dormant stage for almost one month and then it is showing growth for last two weeks. So I am expecting a few more fruits from this plant.

Pomegranate plants
These three are pomegranate plants which are grown from seeds.
Chilli plants
This year, I sowed chilli seeds and got many seedlings. So picked a few healthy seedlings and potted in separate pots. I hope from this year we won’t need to buy chillies from the market. HaHa!!
