Sunday is always funday. People do a lot of activities with friends & families on Sundays. They break the monotonous life throughout the week and find leisure to spend the way they want. Here food plays an important role to make Sunday happier and more special. But did you try these vegetarian meals as Sunday food specials at home? Well mostly we all prefer to visit a restaurant whenever we want to try something special but making food at home and having it with others is always enjoyable.
Though everybody does not enjoy cooking every day, so most people want to have food from a restaurant rather spending hours in the kitchen and cook the same food even on Sunday, haha.
Breakfast, lunch & dinner (Sunday food specials)
But I am in a different situation because I enjoy cooking during weekends. Actually, I do not have any other assignments during those days, so I try to make different cuisines at home what I used to have when I was living different cities across the country. So last Sunday, I have prepared some North Indian dishes as my Sunday food specials at home.
For me, Sunday means –
sleeping till 10 o’ clock in the morning
start reading a new novel for the week
spend leisure & chat with friends & family members
watching a movie at a theater
having a special food in a restaurant
But this Sunday was different because I planned to make North Indian dishes for breakfast, lunch & dinner. That was my Sunday food specials at home on this weekend. I also planned to spend some time in the rooftop garden.
Breakfast – Sunday food specials at home
I planned to start the day by having matar kulcha in the morning 🙂. It is my favorite breakfast. Though it sounds spicy & unhealthy but I do no think matar kulcha is unhealthy if you will make this at your home. Neither kulcha nor matar masala is unhealthy because you use very minimum oil/butter to make those and you will definitely add all fresh ingredients to this matar kulcha.
Kulcha is like Indian pancakes what is flour made and very fluffy. I need a very small quantity of butter to make kulcha. In fact, there is no use of oil in matar masala what is nothing but boiled white peas mixed with finely chopped tomato, onion & spices.
Lunch at home – Sunday food specials

Once I have done with my yummy breakfast then I decided to have vegetarian biryani & chole masala for lunch. I used to love chole masala & matar rice for my weekend lunch when I was in Delhi. I enjoyed such a meal weekend after weekend. It was so delicious, healthy and cheap too. There was a stall named ‘Apki Rasoi’ at Rohini sector 11 where I used to visit on every weekend. Such a plate of chole & green pea rice was only Rs 30 in 2011.
I wanted to make the same meal but fresh green peas were not available in the market. So I had to buy frozen green peas what I do not prefer. So I planned to make vegetarian biryani for my Sunday food specials.

This vegetable biryani was awesome in taste. Cauliflower, capsicum, french beans, carrots, potatoes etc were added to make this veg biryani. It was very aromatic but I added less ghee to reduce extra calorific value.

So after having my Sunday special lunch at home, I had sweet lassi with soda water. This helped me to digest my lunch faster & effectively.
My hi-tea was not very special. I had a cup of cutting chai and two samosas in the evening. Samosas were not homemade. I bought 6 samosas for Rs 30 for 3 persons.
Dinner for Sunday food specials at home

Now it was the time for dinner. There was some leftover chole masala after having lunch. So I decided to make bhatura in dinner. Chole bhatura is also my favorite but I do not prefer this for dinner. It is deep fried food so I wanted to avoid this to have for dinner. But finally, I changed my mind because nothing can be more delicious than bhature with super delicious Punjabi style chole masala what I had already made for my lunch. Those bhature were not any other ordinary bhature because those were filled with paneer stuffing. I had started my day with yummy matar kulcha and finished the day with wonderful dinner with paneer bhature & chole masala served with onion & green chillies.
I spent a perfect day for every food lover and I enjoyed my Sunday food specials at home.
Though I wanted to share this post by Tuesday but I failed to complete this post within time because of this news about Majherhat bridge (in Kolkata, WB, India) collapsed.
