Sattu drink is a healthy drink. Once you drink a glass of sattu sharbat everyday morning, you will feel energetic. If you add two or three full spoon of roasted chana sattu in a glass of water and have it in the morning, then you do not need to do breakfast as your stomach will be full. But if you add only sattu in water then it is not so tasty. So you can add some other ingredients to make it tasty, so that people like to drink it regularly.

What is sattu?
Some of you may have heard about sattu flour but do not know what it is actually. Some of you even may not even see sattu flour in your whole life. So for them, it is a common query before reading this post further. Is it not true?

For those people, let it make clear that sattu is nothing but roasted brown chickpea flour. There are many traditional way to make sattu. Some people boil overnight soaked chickpeas then make it dry under sun for one or two days. Then roast over low flame. Finally grind to make powder of it. It is said that sattu has a lot of health benefits.
You can also see local vendors are selling sattu sharbat in market. During summer many people sell such roasted chana sattu sharbat from their temporary stalls. Many people also drink such sharbat too but before drinking from such stalls you have to know their source of water 🙂 . But during summer when we are too tired and do not find any other option, that time we are forced to avoid such query and drink sattu ka sharbat from a roadside stall or a temporary stall under a tree.
So it is always better to make this drink at home and enjoy. This is very simple and healthy. Apart from all these aspects, this drink will help you feel more energetic and hydrated for a longer duration. That is why most people love this drink summer days. Many people make this drink more refreshing by adding lemon juice and mint leaves. Sweet sattu sharbat (drink) recipe
Preparation time : 5 minutes
Yield : 2 glasses
Ingredients to make this sweet sattu ka sharbat
- Roasted brown chickpeas powder / chana sattu – 3 full spoon
- Sugar / sakkar – 4 tsp
- Lemon juice / nimbu – 2 tsp
- Black salt – 1 tsp
- Cold water – 2 glasses
Instructions to make this sweet sattu ka sharbat
- Take 2 glasses of cold water and add sugar, lemon juice & black salt (or normal salt) and mix well
- Now add brown chickpeas / channa sattu in water and mix very well (you can use electric/hand mixer)
- Pour in glasses and serve

This sweet sattu ka sharbat is very much popular in Bihar, Uttarpradesh, Jharkhand and some parts of West Bengal. Sweet sattu drink recipe
- Brown chickpeas sattu – 3 full spoon
- Sugar – 4 tsp
- Lemon juice – 2 tsp
- Black salt – 1 tsp
- Cold water – 2 glasses
- take 2 glasses of water and add sugar, lemon juice & black salt and mix
- Now add brown chickpeas sattu in water and mix very well (use mixer too)
- Pour in glasses and serve cold sharbat
Salty sattu drink/Namkeen sattu sharbat recipe
- 2 tablespoons sattu/ roasted gram flour
- 15 mint leaves/pudina patta
- 2 teaspoons roasted cumin powder
- 3 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoons chat masala
- Black salt as needed
- 1 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
- 3 glasses chilled water
- Take sattu in a bowl, then add roasted cumin powder, lemon juice, chat masala, black salt, black pepper (optional) and mint leaves
- Pour all ingredients in mixie & add chilled water
- Combine all in the mixie
- Now pour it into glasses and served with pinches of roasted cumin powder & mint leaves
