Republic day food menu for the whole day, Republic day special food
♦ Breakfast ♦ |
Gujarati khaman dhokla with jalebi is one of the most popular breakfast in Indian state Gujarat. It is very delicious as well as easy to make & healthy too. So you can start your day with Gujarati khaman dhokla on coming Republic day of India.
In case you prefer South Indian food then nothing is better than idli sambar to start your day. It is healthy & tasty. You can make this at your home as well as easily buy it from the local market and have it at home too. I love this soft & fluffy idlis with coconut chatni too.
♦ Lunch ♦ |
Dal & bati are very popular in Rajasthan. Dal is a common dish across the country but Rajasthani dal preparation is slightly different from dal served in other regions. Bati is flour & spices made item which is cooked in tandoor or sometimes it is prepared in the fire by using easily available wood or coal at an open space in front of people’s house. Nowadays people who are living in a flat they use electric tandoor to make delicious batis.
North Indian mixed fruit raita
If you want to make your Republic day memorable then you must include mixed fruit raita in your food menu. Though most of my favorite fruits are summer fruits but still I can have some awesome winter fruits to add to mixed raita. So try this along with your main course items as a Republic day special food.
Rajma chawal is a perfect meal for vegetarians. It is full of protein and many vitamins & minerals. North Indian people particularly Punjabi people cook this kidney beans (rajma) in a traditional way and make a gravy based dish to have it with plain rice. Most North Indian people have so many childhood memories about this rajma chawal. So if you have not tried this then must include this in your Republic day food menu to make it special & healthier.
Gulab jamun is the most preferable sweet dish in North India. It is also popular in Rajasthan too. So once you include this yummy sweet in your Republic day food menu then it makes the whole lunch more enjoyable.
♦ Evening snacks ♦ |
Most Indians prefer tea with namkeen (salty & spicy snack) in the evening. Mathri (or matthi) is one of my most favorite namkeens. Though it is popular in Delhi, UP, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan etc but I still enjoy this despite living in West Bengal. North Indian mathri is not easily available at local markets in Kolkata. Though there are similar many namkeen available here but spicy methi mathri or ajwain mathri is always a better option for me. In such case, I used to prepare aate ki mathri at home.
Bhadang? Did you ever hear about this? What it is? Is it food? You may think all these things if you are not Marathi or you did not live in any Maharashtrian city. Actually, it is a spicy puffed rice made snack with extra garlic flavor. This puffed rice (murmura) made bhadang is very popular in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. It is not just a spicy food but also very hot too. So in case you do not prefer such a snack then you can avoid this. But still, I would suggest you try this snack as Republic day special food.
♦ Dinner ♦ |
Bengali radhaballabhi & dum aloo
Radhaballabhi is delicious Bengali food. It is a most common food in any traditional Bengali wedding party. It is often prepared in Bengali households during holidays. Most people enjoy this stuffed flour made a deep fried item with chholar dal or aloor dum. Radhaballabhi with aloor dum are my favorite like many other Bengali people. So in case you want to try Bengali food in dinner on this special day then you can try radhaballabhi with aloor dum and make this Republic day very special.
Bengali paneer jalfrezi (with pulao)
Another awesome Bengali dish paneer jalfrezi. Though the name sounds like a foreign dish but surprisingly it is a Bengali dish. Actually, it is a fusion of Persian/Mughal and Bengali style food recipes. Here ‘jhal‘ means hot or spicy in Bengali and ‘parhezi’ means a perfect diet in the Persian language. It is a wonderful paneer based dish with a lot of capsicum and most people love to have this with pulao, particularly with basanti pulao.
Without dessert, any meal is just incomplete. When it comes to Bengali meal then you must try payes (or rice kheer).
