Once you will try aloo matar from a dhaba in North Indian region then you will definitely get addicted to it. Yes, it is that much delicious. People who often go for a road journey always prefer to have a meal at a roadside dhaba. Is this not true? I mean if you live in a Northern Indian state and often enjoy a road trip then you have definitely experienced it. Aloo mutter or potato pea curry is a very popular dish in any roadside dhaba. It is a really super yummy dish what people love to try again & again.
Though nowadays green peas are available throughout the year but basically it is a winter season vegetable. So if you want to enjoy the best taste of aloo matar then you should try this during winter because fresh & juicy green peas are available during this season only. Not only that, during this season you can buy this vegetable at a lower price range. So if you try this aloo mutter masala (or green pea curry) during winter at a roadside dhaba then you will find enough green peas in your dish, haha. Otherwise, during off season some dhaba owners may cheat you by serving this dish prepared with very few green peas. I hope you can understand this.
Aloo matar is one of my favorite North Indian dishes. But now I do not live in a Northern Indian state. So aloo matar is not a common dish at every local restaurant. Only a few restaurants offer this food in Kolkata. So you can not get the ambiance of a dhaba which make food more enjoyable.
So it is a good idea if you make this aloo mutter at home and have it. You can even occasionally enjoy this food on the rooftop or even serve this food on charpai or on a wooden stool. It does not take hours to prepare and it does not even need special expertise to make a dhaba style aloo matar at home. You just need a few ingredients and 20 minutes along with your willingness to create this happiness at home. That’s it!!! IT is very very simple.
