5 awesome plant based breakfast ideas

It is hard to be choosy when you often miss your breakfast because of your work. Breakfast is an important meal for the whole day. It is said that breakfast should be heavy, lunch should be small in quantity and dinner should be least in quantity. But I often do the opposite thing. I think most of us do the same mistake. We often even miss our breakfast. We have lunch according to our workload and finally fill our stomach with a lot of food at dinner when we are at home & relaxed. So here is a list of plant based breakfast ideas for you.

Those are simple and we can easily have heavy breakfast because plant based food is always easy to digest. Some people even only prefer plant based food. So for them, these breakfast food are the best.

Life is not sustainable without water, air and food. Water & air are still available for free. But the food is not. You need to work to earn for this purpose. But what if you still can not eat good food even when you earn well. Life is incomplete.

dhokla - plant based breakfast food

1. Gujarati khaman dhokla

It is a popular Gujarati snack. But it is also popular various other parts of the country too. It is also available at various sweet shops as well as snack shops in those regions. But you can even prepare those market-style spongy dhokla at home. It is very easy to make and anybody can prepare it at home with a few ingredients. Though many people ferment its batter. But you can make it without fermenting its batter. I think most people actually prefer to use make this without fermenting its batter at home because you can still make awesome dhokla at home. It needs chutneys/sauces to serve with it. I prefer to have pudina wala green chutney & jaggery & tamarind based red chutney with it. Dhokla & jalebi are the perfect duos for breakfast.

2. Whole moong dal appe

Though traditionally people use curd to ferment its batter but you can avoid curd and use yeast to make such whole moong dal appe. This food is similar to idli but it tastes different because spices are added to make this breakfast food. It tastes hot & spicy and it becomes more enjoyable when you have it with schezwan sauce. It is simply delicious. I prefer to add finely chopped carrots & onion to this. But you can add any other preferred vegetables to this. Some people add other types of lentils but appes prepared with whole moong dal are simply super delicious.

3. Instant rava uttapam

I call this utaapam as an Indian pizza. It looks like pizza without cheese. It is so colorful and it takes time to prepare because it needs to be fermented. But instant rava uttapam solved this problem too. You can easily prepare uttapam by using sooji/rava and cook it within a few minutes. It is so simple and tasty. In case you want to avoid curd then you can replace curd with all-purpose flour along with lemon juice.

4. Chiwda pulao

Pulao takes time to prepare because you need to cook rice. Secondly, many people do not like to eat rice for breakfast. At least I do not prefer rice for breakfast. Secondly most people are in a hurry in the morning because to need to go for work. So flattened rice or chiwda solve this issue. You can prepare such chiwda pulao within a few minutes. It is healthy & tasty and anybody can prepare it within a few minutes. Secondly, it not rice but prepared from rice, haha.

5. Idli & dosa

Though idli & dosa are two different types of food. But these two are prepared from the same batter and often served along with same side dishes. In fact it goes based with sambar but preparing sambar for breakfast is difficult. But you can prepare coconut chutney in a jiffy that too with a few ingredients. Nowadays it becomes easier because you can buy coconut powder directly from the market. You can also try it with schezwan sauce or even with pudina chutney in the morning. Though traditionally people use yogurt/curd to ferment its batter but if you are vegan then you can use yeast. During the summer season, I often use methi/fenugreek seeds to ferment its batter instead of curd or yeast.
