Harvested papaya from homegrown plant to make papaya fruit salad

Did you ever try ripe papaya fruit salad? That too prepared with a papaya fruit which was harvested from organically grown papaya plant at backyard? The taste of such papaya fruits is really different. So this ripe papaya fruit salad was really very special. Though I tried this salad earlier but when you make something from homegrown fruit then definitely it becomes very special.

I planted that plant 7-8 months earlier. Now I has already providing 2-3 papaya fruits every week to my family. It was second ripe papaya fruit harvested from that plant and a few are in the pipe line unless we consume those as unripe fruits. But still I can expect 3-4 ripe fruits per month from that plant.

Okay, now coming to this ripe papaya fruit salad. It is very simple and anybody can make this at home. You do not need fire to make this dish. I mean there are a few salad where you may need to cook something. But it does not belong to that category.

I loved this a lot. You can try this along with your breakfast or consume this as starter item. It is also said that fruit is good after lunch so you can try this after lunch too. You will definitely enjoy this salad dish.

Ingredients
  • 1 perfectly ripe papaya
  • 1.5 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
  1. Peel a ripe papaya and chopped into small pieces
  2. Take honey, chaat masala, lemon juice and mix
  3. Now spread it over the small pieces of papaya
Notes
In case you do not have chaat masala then mix equal portions of roasted cumin powder, roasted coriander powder, cardamon powder, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, dry mango powder, black salt and take one teaspoon of spices from that mixture

Though ripe papaya is considered as fruit but in India unripe papaya is considered as a vegetable. Green papaya or unripe papaya is very popular and it is used to make various traditional dishes in India. Peper dalna is one of those popular dish in West Bengal.
