It is not just a normal smoothie. You can call it a superfood smoothie. It contains several vitamins & minerals. Many experts & specialists said that it has various medicinal values. But it is also true that some people denied such claims. You may debate on its medicinal values but there are several pieces of research that say that it contains nutritional values. That is why many experts or food specialist claim it as a superfood or miracle food. I personally came across some of those articles related to moringa plant on the internet. So this year I decided to prepare moringa green smoothie (or drumstick leaves smoothie) instead of only having moringa leaves fritters.
Nowadays green moringa leaf powder is also available in many departmental stores. But in India, it is not so popular. I mean, you hardly find any physical store where you can get such green moringa leaf powder. Actually, moringa aka (also known as) drumstick plant is a common plant in West Bengal as well as some other regions in this country. Even, we also have a drumstick plant at our front yard.
Okay, if you really want this then you can find it online. So it is not a big deal if you can not arrange fresh moringa leaves.
Though I do not like the flavor & taste of moringa leaves. It is slightly bitter in taste. I only find drumstick (sojne in Bengali) fruits and flowers good in taste. So I hardly eat its leaves. I do only like moringa leaves fritters that too occasionally. But as this year I decided to make moringa green smoothie. So being a foodie, I motivate myself to make some awesome moringa green smoothies (drumstick leaves smoothies) what will be not only healthy but also tasty.
Moringa yogurt smoothie recipe
- ½ cup finely chopped moringa/drumstick/sojne leaves or 2 teaspoon green moringa powder
- ½ cup yougurt/curd
- Handful mint (pudina) leaves
- 2 teaspoon ginger juice
- 2 teaspoon lemon juice
- Pinches of black salt
- 1.5 glasses of chilled water
- Wash fresh moringa leaves and cut into small pieces
- Then take everything into a smoothie maker or blender and make a smoothie out of it
- Pour it into glasses and serve it with ice cubes
