Malvani food, delicious street foods of Malvan, Maharashtra

August 30, 2017 By admin Leave a Comment

Did you ever try Malvani food? It is so spicy & delicious. While we started traveling from Nashik to Malvan, we got a phone number of a hotel from the internet, One of my friends had also spoken with him. He talked to that hotel guy over the phone to get an idea of hotel’s location. We reached the place after traveling 10-12 hours by car. The hotel was decent but it is quite far away from the beach, so no one agreed to stay there. So our driver drove the car into the village through a very narrow rural road. We asked some local people about the place where we can stay. One man said that those people who live in houses near the beach used to allow tourists to stay in their house and that way they earn some extra income for that. We reached near the beach and we got some information about such houses. Houses were good and we chose two rooms for six people. Yes, two rooms for six people because that house owner had only two rooms to offer otherwise two from us needed to stay in other house what nobody wanted.

Poha

After a while, I asked the owner of the house about breakfast. He said that they used to offer breakfast based on the availability of ingredients in their kitchen, so that day he could only offer poha. Poha is very popular food in Maharashtra, it is even being sold as street food in Maharashtra.

We were really hungry after the long journey, so we told him to make it. But they needed an hour to make it. We went to the beach. But the beach was small, so the tourists rarely come to this beach. We spent some time there then came back to do breakfast.

Nashik to Malvan

I also tried some home made snacks when we were walking along the village roads. Malvani people make very delicious vada pav but they make it spicier than any other places in Maharashtra. you can even try a lot of non-vegetarian foods if you want to do. But all foods were so spicy and people use to add coconut almost every where even if you want to try mutton curry then also you will find grated coconut there, haha. I did not take any snaps of those foods because I never thought one day I would have a platform like this blog to share. But now I regret for not doing so. But here I have added photographs of that Malvani food what I tried to make at home.

Malvan is also famous for water sports and SCUBA diving. SCUBA diving means Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. You can even try various water sports, for that you need to go Tsunami Island, that island is under one foot under the water. I mean where you always have sea-water up to your knee level. Some local people also sell vegetarian & non-vegetarian fries and other local Malvani food.
