I never thought that my Malaysian red guava tree would start flowering so early and then those flowers would turn into beautiful fruits within a few days. Yes, I bought that 2 feet long tree 3 months ago. Surprisingly now that tree is bearing atleast 40 fruits. Simply AMAZING! I never expected such a wonderful performance by such a small tree. I did not know how old that tree was because when I purchased the tree there was no flower or fruit on that tree. Not only that I potted it on a small grow bag. So this tree is truly performer of the month October 2020 in my rooftop garden.
So foodies if you want to try exotic fruit or uncommon fruits what are not easily available in your local market then you should grow this Malaysian red guava.
I never tasted Malaysian red guava but heard about it. It is said that it is so different in taste than normal guava fruits. It is also smaller in size.
Though it is a fruit plant but still any body can grow it in their garden as ornamental plant because it is colorful leaves. Throughout the year this tree will beautify your garden and not only that, it will also produce plenty of fruits 2-3 times in a year. It produced plenty of small red colored fruits.
I am also eagerly waiting for ripening of those fruits. Though this tree is growing in a small 10 inch grow bag and I thought I will transplant in on the ground. But now I realized I can expect enough fruits from this even if I grow it in a pot/bag/container.
I did not even take any special care of this tree. I just applied around 20-25% vermicompost at the time of making the potting mix. After that I regularly applying mustard cake liuid fertilizer ever 7-10 days. I probably added readymade mixed chemical fertilizer for once that too a few days after transplanting the tree in the grow bag..
