Make soya chunks masala at home – soya chunks recipe

Soya chunks are very tasty and you can make a lot of spicy dishes with this. Vegetarian can use this (or various lentils) as substitute of meat for its nutrition value. This soya chunks masala dish also is spicy and it has thick tomato & onion based gravy. You can have this dish in lunch or dinner with roti or rice. Follow this soya chunks recipe and try it at home.

Ingredients
  • Soya chunks – 1.5 cup
  • potato – 1 medium
  • Tomato – 2 medium size
  • Onion – 2 small size (finely chopped)
  • Ginger – 2 tsp (paste)
  • Garlic – 4-5 cloves (paste)
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 2 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder – 1.5 tsp
  • Sunflower oil – 1.5 tbsp
  • Water – 2 cup
Instructions
  1. Soak soya chunks in warm water for 30 mins
  2. Clean potato, tomato with water and boil for 12 minutes, then peel potatoes skin and cut into small pieces
  3. Take boiled tomato. First peel its skin and cut each tomato into 4 pieces and blend those in mixer
  4. Heat a cooking pot and add oil, now add finely chopped onion in cooking pot or wide pan, fry it till its color changed to light brown and then add ginger and garlic paste and mix well and add salt too.
  5. Now add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder and red chili powder too, stir all spices to mix
  6. Now add tomato puree and mix it with all other ingredients and cook it for 5 minutes
  7. Add potato cubes now and mix those with gravy and leave it for 2-3 minutes
  8. Now add soya chunks and stir to mix with all ingredients,add garam masala at this step, after 2 minutes add water as needed to make gravy
  9. Let it start boiling in medium flame for 10 minutes
  10. Now switch of the flame and serve hot with chapati or rice

  • Soya chunks – 1.5 cup
  • potato / aloo – 1 medium
  • Tomato / tamatar – 2 medium size
  • Onion / pyaz – 2 small size (finely chopped)
  • Ginger / adrak – 2 tsp (paste)
  • Garlic / lahsun – 4-5 cloves (paste)
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • Bay leaves / tej patta – 2-3
  • Coriander / dhania powder – 2 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder / lal mirch powder – 1.5 tsp
  • Sunflower oil – 1.5 tbsp
  • Water – 2 cup

Instructions

  1. Soak soya chunks in warm water for 30 mins
  2. Clean potato, tomato with water and boil for 12 minutes, then peel potatoes skin and cut into small pieces (6-8 pieces), now keep boiled potato aside for using those later
  3. Take boiled tomato to make tomato puree. First peel its skin and cut each tomato into 4 pieces and blend it in mixer and make think puree what will be used to make delicious gravy. If you want to have this dish with roti then you can make gravy more thicker.
  4. Heat a cooking pot or kadai and add oil, now add finely chopped onion in kadai, fry it till its color changed to light brown and then add ginger and garlic paste and mix well and add salt too.
  5. Now add all spices (coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder and red chili powder, bay leaves too), stir all spices to mix with other ingredients
  6. Now you have to add tomato puree and mix it with all other ingredients and cook it for 5 minutes, now your gravy is almost ready
  7. You have to add potato cubes now and mix those with gravy and leave it for 2-3 minutes
  8. Now add soya chunks and stir to mix with all ingredients,add garam masala at this step, after 2 minutes you can add water as needed to make gravy
  9. Let it start boiling in medium flame for 10 minutes
  10. Now switch of the flame and serve hot with chapati (tawa roti) or rice

Important notes

⇒ You can garnish soya chunk masala with coriander leaves. Soya chunk masala is preferable with hot & soft tawa roti or jeera rice.

⇒  You can skip potatoes to add in this soya chunk masala dish if you do not like patato (aloo) here

If you like spicy thick gravy or dry dish then you can try these recipes too dry aloo jeera, tasty paneer masala, kadai paneer, panner bhurji, shahi paneer, dum aloo with curd, mix vegetable etc.
