Widely used Indian spices for making soup

Spices play the most important role to bring taste in soup, not only soup, it is even true for any dish. There are several different types of spices are available in India. Some of those spices are very popular, not only in India but also across the other parts of the world. But there are some spices which are mostly used in India. The list of Indian spices is very long but here I have only included 25 widely used Indian spices for making soup.

All those spices are used not only in soup but also preferably used in various other dishes. So without spices, it is very difficult to bring exact taste in soup or any other dishes, particularly if you are talking about Indian dish then spices are indispensable.

Description
Ginger: Ginger is one of the most used Indian spices, not only for making soup but also for any Indian dishes.
Garlic: lahsun, another most used Indian spice, it becomes almost compulsory in case of non vegetarian food. It is used to make many vegetarian and non vegetarian soups.
Chili: Green chili, sun dried red chili and red chili powder are used
Black pepper: It powder is often added to make dish little hot
Asafoetida: It is very rarely used in soup but often added in many Indian dishes
Cardamom: It is added with garam masala, sometimes even separately used
Indian bay leaf: Very common Indian spices, often used in various dishes along with soups
Cinnamon: Generally added in soup along with garam masala but sometimes even added separately
Cloves: It is part of garam masala
Coriander: Its leaves and seeds are added in food
Cumin seed: Very common Indian spice
Curry leaf: Wisely used one of the popular Indian spices
Fenugreek: Both leaves and seeds are used as spice
Black salt: In some cases I prefer to add black salt in soups
Mint/Pudina: It is also widely use in various food
Mustard seeds: Very common spice and often used in soup
Nigella seed: Another popular Indian spice
Nutmeg: Widely sued Indian spice but it is added in some very special soups
Poppy seeds: Popular Indian spice
Turmeric: Widely used in soup
Ajwain: A common Indian spice
Tamarind: I prefer this instead of lemon juice
Holy basil: It is sometimes added in food
Fennel seeds: Yes, it is also a widely used Indian spice
Carom: Very common Indian spice
