Growing own vegetables & fruits is always beneficial. It gives you the opportunity to spend time with nature and at the same time, you can harvest fresh & organic vegetables & fruits from your own garden. It is not just beneficial from an economical point of view but also beneficial for your health. You can eat chemical pesticide-free vegetables & fruits. In case you are thinking that you can not grow vegetables & fruits because you do not have a backyard then you are wrong because you can grow your own organic food in rooftop garden too.
This month, I have rearranged the whole garden. I kept vegetable plants on Southside and flowering plants on west Side and fruit plants on North Side. It helps me to water, fertilizing & total caring those plants.
Vegetable plants
Brinjal/Eggplant
I had 6 brinjal plants what are giving 3-4 brinjals every week. Though last months it was giving more brinjals but since last a few days those are not giving enough brinjals. I have grown those plants in 14-inch pot (one plants), 12-inch pots (3 plants) & 10-inch pots (2 plants).

Chillies
This year I have grown many chilli plants. Yes, I have 14 chilli plants. I sowed seeds and within one & half month, those are now big enough to start flowering & fruiting. One of those plants already started producing fruits. A few have started producing flowers.
Tomatoes
Tomato is important in every Indian kitchen. So I grew 5 plants last winter. Those are still producing tomatoes. All of those plants already started blooming flowers again. Almost every day, now I am harvesting 2-3 tomatoes from those plants.

Bottle gourds
This plant disappointed me. It is a 5 months old plant. But till now it produced only 2 bottle gourds. I hope within a month, I will get atleast one more bottle gourd.

Long beans
I am growing long beans for the first time. I have taken 5 grow bags to this purpose.
Lettuce
Well, it is winter leafy vegetable. But I am still harvesting a handful fresh leaves even in the month of March. Those leaves are perfect for salad & sandwiches.
Onions
It was an experimental project to check whether I can grow onion from the bottom part of the raw onion. Now I am happy with the result.
Fruit plants
Strawberry
Last year I bought a strawberry plant for Rs 100. It was too expensive. That plant produced only 4 strawberries. So it disappointed me every way. That is why I collected seeds from one of those fruits. After 15 days of sowing, a few of those seeds were germinated. So now I am waiting for the next few weeks when I can transplant those seedlings in bigger pots.
Pomegranate
Pomegranate is one of my favorite fruits. Every year, I eat a lot of pomegranate by using it poha, dabeli, juice, shake, ice cream etc. So last year, I transplanted 3 plants in containers. Those plants are now 1.5 ft tall. I hope that those plants will start bearing fruits from next year.
Lemon
Lemon is a such a tree what everybody wants to grow but very few actually get fruit from the plants. People face difficulties due to no blooming or flower falling or young fruit falling. I have faced all three. So I generally do not prefer to grow a lemon tree. But still, I have two lemon plants, one is in a container and another one planted one ground.
Star fruit
Star fruit is the best fruiting plant for container garden because you can easily get 30 to 40 fruits from your star fruit plant even you planted that in a 10-inch pot. That plant will produce fruits 2 to 3 times in year. Every time you can easily expect 10 to 20 fruits. That is why a few months ago I planted a star fruit plant in a 14-inch plastic container.
Watermelon
Summer is knocking our door, so I am ready to welcome the summer season with my watermelon vines. I am already growing 3 plants and next month I will sow another 3 plants too. I will definitely show you the updates.
