Hibiscus flower tea is one of the most beneficial herbal drinks. I have heard a lot about hibiscus tea and its benefits. It is also said that this hibiscus tea is good for health and it reduces high cholesterol and high blood pressure. It may cure inflammatory problems. This herbal tea may be helpful to control hypertension. Drinking of this wonderful tea is good for your liver too. The list does not end here, it may control your depression and digestion problem. Ohh, it is like All in One medicine. So I picked up a hibiscus tea packet from a departmental store to clarify and I found almost all those things were written on that packet too. The hibiscus tea recipe is also very simple.
Though it is not liked that I have not tried hibiscus tea earlier. The taste of the tea was okay. Though it is being more than one year I tasted that tea. But recently I decided to make hibiscus flower tea that too with fresh flowers instead of dried petals bought from the market. Generally, the market bought hibiscus tea only include dried petals, nothing else. So I did not think to buy it again from the market.
Are you still curious to know how it was harmful to my health? Then please stay with me. You will be surprised & terrified and you may laugh at me too.
Homegrown fresh hibiscus flowers
I also thought that fresh flower made tea will be better in taste & healthy. There were two hibiscus plants at our premise, one in the backyard and another one in a pot. Both are five petals flower. So I picked one flower from the homegrown plant in a pot. It was bright red in color and definitely fresh.
I removed all other parts and took only red petals from that hibiscus flower. This time I wanted to add cinnamon, clove and ginger which were my favorite ingredients to make masala chai (spicy tea). So I go with my decision. I boiled water and then added fresh hibiscus flower’s petals, cinnamon, clove and ginger one by one. I added a small amount of sugar to bring sweetness in my cup of hibiscus flower tea. Everything was fine. I was so happy with my performance because of that bright red color. So I strained that tea and pour my hibiscus tea into my cup.
Then I started sipping my tea. I took my photographs for sharing those on this post. But certainly, I remembered that yesterday I spread pesticide on that plant. That pesticide was strong and that is why I spread that only on flower plants, not on my vegetable plants. I was just terrified. So I rushed to drain out the rest of my tea and wash my mouth. It could be dangerous for my health. But thank God I did not drink all. So it was the story and now I have decided to make another cup of tea after 10-12 days when there will be no effect of pesticide on my plant. Then I will definitely enjoy my cup of tea fullest.

Where to buy hibiscus tea?
Though I do not find any necessity to buy hibiscus tea from the market if you have hibiscus flower plant at your own backyard. Otherwise, you may need to buy this tea from the market. But probably you will not find it at your local general stores because this drink although beneficial but not so popular drink in this country, secondly, it is a very common plant in India. Almost every house in a village, there is a hibiscus plant (grow your own plant). That is why you may need to visit a supermarket/departmental store in the city.
