Growing tons of tomato in the rooftop garden that I never expected

February 5, 2022 By admin Leave a Comment

I never expected that I can get that many tomatoes from the rooftop garden. I have only fifteen pots/containers to grow tomato plants. There are some containers where I am growing even two plants. Those are now 2.5 months old and each and every plant produced approx 20 tomatoes and many many other tomatoes are in the queue. The size of the tomatoes is big that only 10 tomatoes are needed for weighing1 kg of tomato.

Okay, you can see these images of my tomato plants. Each of those is healthy, despite bad weather and rains during the winter season. I do not take much care of those plants. But still, those are healthy because the soil has enough amount of organic fertilizer. Initially, I used to provide fertilizer like an expert. I learnt a lot about the fertigation of each and every kind of plant which I grow. I used to apply different types of fertilizer for different plants to get maximum output. But that does not work because it is very difficult if you are a gardener and growing multiple types of vegetables at a time. It kills the fun of gardening and people get bored and start losing interest in gardening. Is it not true?

Try some awesome dishes prepared with homegrown tomatoes –

That is why I do not bother what plant I am growing. I just apply enough organic fertilizer (any good quality compost) and the time of preparing soil and then I apply balanced liquid fertilizer after every 7-10 days. Apart from that, I apply fungicide as well as insecticide after every 7-10 days.

Also try some tomato based dishes: Awesome soup, kachcha tamatar curry, tasty roasted curry, rasam without dal, raita

I prefer to use organic products. But those are costlier than chemical products. So sometimes I have to use chemical products along with organic products to maintain the balance between cost as well as health. I mean to say sometimes I use one chemical fungicide and one organic fungicide alternatively after every 7-10 days. In the summer season fungus is not a serious issue as compared to the winter season. So if you can not manage your garden with organic products then you can use one effective chemical fungicide along with an organic one.

There are a lot of organic insecticides which are very effective to keep my garden harmful insect-free. So I use only organic insecticides like Vedic agro Kaka, Super sonata, Liebigs agro Trap, Miend etc. Only thing is that those are costlier than chemical insecticides. So in case, the cost is a big issue for you then you can choose one chemical insecticide along with organic insecticides.

So share your gardening experience by leaving a comment below. Do you enjoy gardening? How do you manage your garden? What all are you growing?
