Growing mint at home in India
Mint (pudina) plant produces awesome aromatic leaves. Those mint leaves are very useful for various purposes. You can make couples of refreshing & healthy drink by using those leaves. If you are Indian then you will definitely know that fries & flitters will never be so delicious without pudina chutney. Do you not think so? I love to add pudina chutney with samosa, pakoda, vada pav etc. But you can not make such chutney whenever you will want because fresh mint leaves are not always in our kitchen inventory. Actually, mint leaves are perishable and you can not store mint leave in refrigerator for more than 3-5 days. Secondly, it is very hard to find fresh mint leaves in the market. But still, you have to buy those branches of mint leaves for Rs 15 to 20. It is very expensive. Most of the time, after buying mint leaves from the market, you use some of those leaves for some purpose and rest you store it in the refrigerator for future use. But whenever next time you need those residual leaves for making something, you will find those leaves dried up or messy/pulpy/damage.

Growing mint indoors (mentha plant in pot)
But this time I want to see growing mint indoors. Normally I used to grow the mint plant from cutting but I was successful one time for every 6 or 7 attempts. So this time I find a new method for having a new mint plant successfully without multiple failures.
For this purpose, I kept a new pot near mint plants which are growing in another big container. There are many stems or branches which are growing out side of that container. So I placed a small container that way so that a healthy branch would pass over that empty container. Now I put some soil over that branch so that roots will grow faster and then I can easily separate that branch with roots. I did it already and now I am waiting for the next 10-12 days so that enough healthy can grow within that period. I will definitely show some pictures once root will grow.
I want the Mentha plant or spearment for indoors. I was told it gets rid of fruit flies. I cannot stand those little annoying flies. However, the plants look like they grow big. Do you have suggestions?
Yes, you can grow mint plants to keep flies away from your fruit tree. It may help you to some extent. Mint leaves have very strong aroma what will help to keep all harmful flies, insects from the soil. Secondly these mint plants do not grow too big. So it won’t harm your fruit tree.
