Do you like salad? Then you definitely like cucumber because it is used in most of the salad dishes. The most common cucumber salad is made of onion and cucumber with salt and lemon juice. Though some people call cucumber as fruit rather than vegetable. But whatever it is that’s not a big problem. 🙂 People enjoy it as fruit as well as use it in many dishes like any other vegetables. Cucumber is very healthy vegetable and it helps us to protect our body from summer heat. But did you ever try to grow cucumber plant at your garden? It is really a great fun to observe growing cucumbers or cucumber plants.
The best part of cucumber plants is that it does not need enough space and anybody can grow cucumber in container also. So if you do not have land or enough space in your garden then you can grow cucumbers in your balcony or use rooftop to grow cucumber.
I normally grow cucumbers from seeds but the biggest challenge of growing cucumber plants from seeds is getting healthy seeds. If you do not buy seeds from a reputed shop then you may receive some seeds which are not fertile. You can buy seeds even online, in such case you should read buyers reviews and feedback on their products. Then only you should go ahead and buy some seeds from them. If you grow cucumber plants from seeds then you have a chance to germinate enough seeds and keep only those plants which are healthy, otherwise go to a nursery and buy cucumber plants directly from a nursery.
My objective of growing cucumber plants is to have some organic vegetables and enjoy the fun of growing cucumbers in container. I added home made compost and bought mixed organic fertilizer from market, added those fertilizer to get better result. This is enough for growing cucumbers in container. I am always strict in this matter and avoid to apply chemical fertilizer in my home grown vegetables. I only can think to add chemical fertilizer if my plants do not show any growth even after one month.
So do you want to grow those plants? This will bring happiness when you will see cucumbers hanging below the plants. But problem is cucumber is summer vegetable (or fruit 🙂 ), so it needs enough water to grow. Last year I grew cucumber plant on ground but this year it is in container, so soil is limited and its capacity to store water is also limited. That is why I may need to watering for two times (morning and evening). Otherwise I am optimistic that I will get plenty of cucumbers. By this stage I am sharing only few snaps of my little plants. After 45 days I will definitely share its growth and my success story, ha ha.
