Do you think that Pinterest is just a social media platform? Then you are actually degrading Pinterest status. Pinterest also works as a search engine. For food bloggers it is like a SURVIVAL WEAPON. Yes, you read it correctly, it is nothing but survival weapon for a food blogger and probably for any other bloggers who added excellent images to their blog. You may think I am exaggerating effectiveness of Pinterest but believe me if you have a food blog (or even you own a travel blog) then you can survive with traffic from this awesomely unique social media. But you should have a good number of followers of your boards and profile too to earn a good number of traffic towards to blog. Then how will you get Pinterest followers within short period? Let’s learn to achieve a few hundreds of followers within one month.
Pinterest is not only an image based social media platform but also a effective search engine to find excellent webpages with beautiful images, that is why I consider it as social search engine. I helps me to increase overall website traffic and provide strength to survive in this over crowded web world.

Today if you run a food blog then it is very difficult to get decent amount of organic traffic to your domain because there are millions of such food blogs and you will find yourself a helpless blogger whom nobody cares. So if you own a blog where your share recipes then you definitely know that food blogging is no more an easy job.

Here Pinterest can help you to beat your competitors and get decent amount of free traffic to your blog. As I said without any followers of your Pinterest boards that is impossible, so you need to follow certain tips to get Pinterest followers. So hold a cup of coffee, relax your body and calmly read below mentioned method.
Most effective way to get Pinterest followers
You may have read hundreds of such tips to grow Pinterest followers like I read and hit and trial each and every method what was mentioned there. But nothing happened significantly after few months passing. It was very frustrating moment that many of you are still going into that moment. Till now you may have done with your Pinterest account creation, started following few other profiles and boards. All of those were okay because those are basic things and your work should start after that. Now what will do that is not beyond features provided by Pinterest but you have to use those features smartly and you should channelize all effort towards a certain direction.
Create multiple boards
This is nothing new because you already created some boards in your Pinterest account, then what is new and how will it create a differentiating factor from other accounts created by various other bloggers?
Yes there is a trick because here you are going to create as many as boards based on your potential audiences. Suppose you share various recipes on main course food. Then you can categorizing your those further and create some more boards. Like create a separate boards for easy recipes only. You can create some more boards based on specific types of food, it will help you to target audiences with specific need. You can create some boards for people who are looking for dinner or lunch only. So target audiences with all types of need (specific need or broader range of need) and create boards according to needs of your audiences only, it will help you to get Pinterest followers with any need in your niche.
So if you have already done categorization in your blog, still as a Pinterest account holder you can think beyond that and create some more boards for your readers.
Be member of few other’s boards
This is something what needs time because it is not in your control. But you can always try to be member of some of those boards created by other users. Now which boards will be most beneficial for you and how will you be member of such boards, those methods are little tricky.
Suppose your recipes for desserts are working good because those are attracting more readers. So try to be member of such boards. Secondly suppose you are not getting enough traffic for your starter recipes then you should try to be a member of any active board for starter recipes only. This way your top performer will be boosted again and your non performer will be able to get a support and some free traffic too. Once you reach at a certain level then you can think beyond those boards too.
Steps to be member of other boards
- Start following such boards
- Start commenting on Pins of those boards, share your thoughts, show interest to be member of that board if possible
- Read description of those boards and find any email id or any other contact info
- Read profile of the account holder and search for contact info and get in touch with that person and show your interest
Pin as much as possible
After creating several boards, if you do not pin your food images to specific boards then you will never get Pinterest followers. So always keep active each and every boards what you have created because your active boards will help you to get Pinterest followers. Less active board mean less followers. So pin as much as possible.
But how much pins will be effective? Is it 10 pins per day or 20 pins or more? Nobody has proper answer. But most active Pinterest users share more than 100 pins per day, some active boards even receive more pins per day. I personally did some experiments on that and when I shared more than 50 pins per day for more than two weeks within that period I received 200 followers whereas I stopped sharing Pins so frequently in last 10 days for due to personal reason and I lost more than 70 followers. It forced me to believe that “MORE PINS MEANS MORE FOLLOWERS“. So do pinning more than 50 per day (I would suggest 100 pins per day for better result) for two weeks and see the result. But do not forget to share your experience here by leaving your comment below.
** 2 PINS FROM YOUR BLOG AND 13 PINS FROM OTHER BLOGS **
If you want to do your pinning activities manually then install Pinterest app on your phone and use that app to pin faster. Whenever you are watching television or chatting with friends or not willing to work on computer then take a very short break and search keyword related to any of your boards then share some best pins on your specific boards. This way you can share 10-12 pins within 5 to 10 minutes.
Comment on other’s Pins
When you are commenting that means you are personally interacting with other Pinterest users. But your commenting activity can be further categorizing into two types, firstly spontaneous (you like a Pin so you comment on that Pin, as simple as it is), secondly, commenting with a self interest.
If it is spontaneous then you do not need to learn it because it will happen when time will come, ha ha. But you need to learn to comment on other’s Pins with a self interest.
Follow below steps
- Follow boards and profile where you can find a lot of pins related to your niche
- Pick at-least 3 boards or profile which are highly active
- Make everyday atleast 2 Comment on pins per board or profile (for 3 boards make 6 comments)
- Mention your own thought about the recipe and share any tip for improvement for that dish.
Once you start commenting then you will definitely get some comments in return too and people will start following your boards too. Now for each 15 days select different set of boards or profiles for commenting.
Use a tool
Pinning 100 recipes / food / infographic (or even more) everyday is not a small task, so you may need a tool to do so. Boardbooster is one of my favorite tools which offers you so many features to deal with your Pinning activities on regular basis and will help you to save your valuable time.
Boardbooster offers you pinning tools (Campaigns, Scheduler and Looping) and maintenance tools (Pin mover, Pin Doctor and Group Manager). This tool will help you to generate very effective reports to analysis things and get Pinterest followers.
Have patience
Nothing will happen over night, so you should have patience and wait till specified time ends and evaluate the result. If you do everything and follow each tip & trick carefully then you will definitely get Pinterest followers and will be able to earn a good amount of traffic from this social media.
Keep checking this site because I will keep on sharing my experience gained from my blogging journey and I will expect you valuable comments too. I hope by this time you have finished your coffee too. So bye and keep blogging.
I spent a lot of time looking for a tool I can rely on to schedule my Pins. Lets be honest..we can’t spend our whole day on Pinterest, and if we don’t do it, we can’t make it big :-/ So the solution? A scheduler… Literally tried and tested almost every noticeable tool on the internet..even got a couple of accounts banned, and then got to know about PinPinterest com. Gave it a try, and since then, haven’t looked for any other tool. Great tool, great features.
I like the way it intelligently learns and pins only pins relevant to my business to my boards. I normally schedule a week’s pins on mondays and it does the rest 😀 It does all the Pinterest-related operations on Auto-Pilot, so yes, it is literally my Pinterest Media Manager 😀
The ads keep coming up, so its a bit annoying, but other than that, PinPinterest is truly the tool you’d want if you want to rule Pinterest B-)
