Are you a food blogger? Then definitely, you are sharing excellent food recipes on your blog regularly. You also post food-related content on your blog. But your Facebook page is not growing along with your food blog. This is really frustrating and this fact forces you to feel low despite your all hard work. It is more irritating and shocking when you come to know other people are getting huge traffic from Facebook without paying huge money. You have also noticed that many food bloggers have thousands, even hundreds of thousand fans & followers.
Does it not demotivate you?
There may be several reasons behind “Facebook page is not growing“. But here I will share something that I learned from my experience. When I started blogging, I thought I will definitely get a decent amount of traffic from Facebook. After starting my blogging journey, I learned about so many other social media platforms & social bookmarking platforms, those were new to me. But still I tried all platforms and surprisingly some sites are performing very well and my food blog started getting decent traffic from those sites. For me, that was most unexpected. But Facebook about what I thought, I was an expert and easily would get some traffic. But Facebook proved me wrong in all way. 🙁
Below mentioned reasons are those what stop my FB page to grow. Haha, sounds weird, is not it? I am managing multiple FB pages as a part of my passion and set my own rules to grow FB page and it will take time. But in the meantime, I have equipped myself to get some traffic from Facebook without having an FB page with a good number of fans.
Probable reasons behind Facebook page is not growing
Maybe some reasons for your case are different but you definitely find some reasons what you may be your reasons also.
1. No videos – (FB users want more videos)
Nowadays FB users are no more interested in text, particularly in some topics they prefer to watch videos. So those days are gone when you can attract thousands of fans or followers without videos.
Videos are key to engage fans and boost people to share your FB posts. It is because videos are more appealing, engaging and it needs less concentration to understand anything.
FB itself add auto start video feature to engage its users. FB understood this psychological changes of its users.
So in absence of videos, people rejected my FB page and potential audiences are definitely following some other FB pages. But right now with some limitations to create exciting & engaging videos, so I need to find out some other way to attract people.
2. Improper timing of posting content
This is something that anybody can realize because every FB post has a certain life, after that period people need to scroll down to find that particular post. A lot of pro bloggers or internet marketers suggested that several times, that is why today any newbie knows this fact.
But every blogger’s audiences are different, so it needs to find out by the blogger himself.
Now, what if you are a food blogger and you share recipes or food-related content. The target audience may be a person who loves to try different food, a housewife who cooks for her family, a traveller who likes to explore new food. DAMNNNN! It includes all.
Here many bloggers often get confused and that too when you are successful on other platforms and failed to grow FB page. Total restless position but you know nothing will improve overnight.
3. No paid promotion
In earlier days, bloggers easily can get a decent number of blog-traffic from their FB page without paying a single penny. But today it is not possible. Probably FB does not show your page to so many people unless you pay for it. Mostly, it may be visible to your friend’s wall or their friend’s wall as suggested pages by FB. So if they are not interested in your content topic then it will not go further or will not be visible to a large number of people.
So unless you have super excellent content or something really funny or interesting, so that it gets viral otherwise it is difficult to get FB page likes without paid promotion.
4. Irregular timing in content sharing
This is one of the main reasons for what my food blog’s Facebook page is not growing.
I involved myself in managing multiple Facebook pages and could not maintain regularity in content sharing and interacting with existing FB fans and followers. This led to poor performance of my main FB page.
