You may have tried many dishes where butter is used to make those special. In many dishes butter is such an important ingredient. Here Buttery potato is also such a special dish where butter plays an important role to make this unique & tasty. Its taste is different from normal potato based dishes or dum aloo. So try this at your home and surprise others.
- Potato – 3 large size
- Ginger & garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Tomato – 2 medium size
- Cardamom – 2
- Cloves – 3-4
- Red chili powder – 1 tsp
- Green chili – 2
- Turmeric powder -1.5 tsp
- Butter – 1.5 tbsp
- Salt – as needed
- Water – 1.5 cups
- Peel skin of potatoes and cut into pieces of each potato and fry in butter in a cooking pan.
- Cut tomatoes into small pieces and blend it to a smooth puree for further use
- Heat 1 tbsp butter in a cooking and let it be melted, then add cardamoms, cloves and green chili and saute in butter.
- Add ginger and garlic paste. Fry that paste
- Now add tomato puree what you made earlier. Add salt too.
- Stir gravy continuously till gravy will become thick. Then you add red chili & turmeric powder and mix it properly.
- Now add fried potatoes in pan and cook in gravy for 5 minutes.
- Then pour 1.5 cups water and let it start boiling. Do it till potatoes become perfectly boiled & gravy reached at perfect condition.
- Take all in a serving bowl and add some butter on the top of the dish.
- Serve it hot with rice or roti.
Buttery potato recipe

Ingredients
- Potato – 3 large size
- Ginger & garlic paste (adrak & lahsun) – 2 tsp
- Tomato / tamatar – 2 medium size
- Cardamom / elaichi – 2
- Cloves / laung – 3-4
- Red chili powder / lal mirch powder – 1 tsp
- Green chili / hara mirch – 2
- Turmeric powder / haldi -1.5 tsp
- Butter / makhan – 1.5 tbsp
- Salt – as needed
- Water – 1.5 cups
Instructions
- Peel skin of potatoes and cut into 4-6 pieces of each potato and fry in butter in a flat pan.
- Cut tomatoes into small pieces and blend it to a smooth puree and keep this puree aside for further use
- Heat a pan and add 1 tbsp butter and let it be melted, then add cardamoms (elaichi), cloves and green chili and saute in butter.
- Add ginger and garlic paste. Fry that paste in butter.
- Now add tomato puree and cook with ingredients. Add salt too. Now you can smell nice aroma of butter, cardamom, cloves & tomatoes
- Stir gravy continuously till gravy will become thick. Then you add red chili powder, turmeric powder and mix it properly.
- Now add fried potatoes in pan and cook in gravy for 5 minutes. Let potatoes absorb the aroma & taste of gravy.
- Then pour water and let it start boiling. Do it till potatoes become perfectly boiled & gravy reached at perfect condition. Otherwise keep boiling to reach desired thickness of gravy.
- Take all in a serving bowl and keep some butter on the dish.
- Serve it hot with rice or roti.
