Khichdi, beguni, veg fries & papad
Khichdi & rains are inseparable. Many people love khichdi for lunch when it is raining outside. It is very enjoyable. Particularly during summer days, people are struggling to beat such high temperature and the sudden rain brings happiness on the earth. Bengali people also start celebrate the day with khichdi, beguni, veg fries (like aloo bhaja, patol bhaja etc) & papad. Many people also love khichdi with dahi/curd, pickle and papad. But I do not like it. Do you?

Aloo/gobi paratha, curd/dahi, pickle & masala chai
It was holiday in 2009 when I was staying leizurely at my rented house in Delhi. It was raining outside in the morning. Road was completely wet but no water logging was there. I went out for walk. Weather was so pleasant. I noticed a road side stall near DC chowk, sec 9/10 Rohini. They were making various types of paratha and serving with raita, pickle etc. I bought a plate of aloo paratha for Rs 20 and it was just yummy. I still can remember the day. Then I had a cup of masala chai and roamed the vicinity. But now I am staying in Kolkata, here I can not buy aloo paratha in my locality. So I am missing those days. But I often try homemade aloo paratha during a rainy day.

Momos & hot chutney
There were two stalls in my life from where I used to buy momos almost regularly. One was located at DDA market, sec 11, Rohini, Delhi and another one was located near Bytco point, Nashik. I have memories of various incidents happened near those stalls. A plate of chicken momos, veg momos, paneer momos or egg momos along with hot & spicy sauce and a good book can make a rainy day super enjoyable. So you can order momos from your local store or you can make it at home and celebrate rains.

Hilsha fish curry & rice
Being a Bengali, I can not forget this meal. It is such a meal what every Bengali people will enjoy during rainy season. Fresh hilsha fishes are only available during this season. So hilsha fish curry & rice are the best food to eat on a rainy day.
